Done and done...  After all, gotta match the car -- wouldn't want them to clash!

'13 Boss #358...#38 in GB. Almost went w/SBY but went with my first choice GB.  I bought a '12 CO Boss 302 and 3 days after purchase, found out that GB would be available for '13!  In the mid 80's I was in a Muscle Car club in Tampa, FL and one of the members was Donald Farr, editor of Mustang Monthly Magazine and author of our Boss 302 books.  He had a beautiful GB '70 Boss 302 that I always admired (although I was (am) a Mopar guy).  Besides, to me GB looks like Petty Blue.

OK, will ask the question again in a different manner.

Why a Boss 302?

When I was a kid, I saw one 1970 Boss 302 and I knew right then I wanted a Ford Mustang Boss 302.  At the time I couldn't touch one let alone purchase one.  I knew I would not be given one, willed one, offered one, or even if a used one was up for sale couldn't purchase one.  Payed $50.00 for my first car and $90.00 to insure it, had to work hard to afford the gasoline.  I have had these cars at one time or another.  1972 Pontiac Catalina, 1972 Lincoln Continental (First and only Ford before the Boss), 1972 Chevy Camaro, AM General step van year??, 1978 Honda civc cvcc, 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix, 1968 Pontiac Firebird, 1984 Dodge Caravan, 2004 Toyota Sienna, 2006 Toyota Camry, 2006 Toyota Tacoma, 2009 Hyundai Sonata.

And then finally my time came to get the car that I really wanted the Ford Mustang Boss 302, I chose the 2013 Grabber Blue while in Afghanistan November 2011 I went to the Overseas Military Sales shed and asked about purchasing a 2012 Boss 302 in Kona Blue.  I was told that they only offered a few Boss 302's for that year and it was already over.  I was also told that in a few months the 13 model would be coming out and be offered at a limited number through military car sales and I would have to enter a lottery and be chosen to purchase either a 13 Boss 302 or a 13 Shelby GT 500.  I like the Shelby but I was all in on the purchase of a 2013 Boss 302.  I have seen so many variants and years of Mustangs on the streets and was not interested in anything other than a Boss 302.  So, I entered this lottery daily religiously and the day of the drawing I hadn't heard back so I emailed my contact.....  I was on pins and needles.  When I got the reply I was told that "I did not get the chance" but in the case of someone else not coming up with a deposit after they had been chosen there would be a second drawing and I was asked if I could wait 3 days......  I reluctantly waited 3 days feeling that my chance had slipped away.  I got the notification on the third day in my email.  "You got a 13 Boss 302"....  That's when I got busy payed the deposit, made all the choices and chose delivery date.  Prior to the drawing I researched the 13 Boss 302 and thought about all the color options and went with Grabber Blue.   Though the process I went through was different than most of you went through, I did save a few thousand dollars off the purchase price and got the extended warranty and the the options that I wanted.  Now I can say that out of all the cars that I have had and wanted.  I have a Boss 302 that I have wanted for a long time and am completely satisfied in my choice of color and options.

Number 2005 in GB here. I was impartial, liked GB, RR and GHIG. My daughter made the decision. Its like a time machine back to 1970, I feel like a kid whem I'm driving it. Got it Saturday and already started ordering parts for it.

Hi Vic:
That is a great story. I had some great cars when I was a single guy, and there where a few cars that wished I had purchased. One thing for sure I always wanted to buy, like a 60's or 1970 Detroit muscle car. Then a guy gets married, then kids, then prep school, college tuition, etc. It just seems to go on and on. You know what I mean. Then one day comes along and you get your chance.

I read your story and knew in my heart where you were speaking from. I look forward to meeting you someday my brother. Oh yes, Tomorrow is the 10th and you are on your way home. Have a safe trip and hurry home to your family, friends and the Boss.
Travel well, 302 Hi Pro

When I was 19 Motor Trend wrote an article about the possibility of Ford creating a Bullitt Mustang along with a Boss 302 Mustang as well. I remember reading that article and thinking to myself that whatever I had at the time I would sell just so that I would be able to get a Boss 302. I remember reading about the trans am Mustangs and loving how they looked as a kid, and the number 2 Dan Gurney Mustang especially. I remember reading about the Talladegas and Boss 302s and the GT-40 the Shelby GT-350 Rs the 289 powered cobras, the 68 Cobra Jets and Thunderbolts and their dominance in their respective sports and wanted to have one of those cars one day but I would never be able to afford one of those cars.

The Boss 302 now allows me to be part of that rich history of First On Race Day Fords of the past. I am an all motor kind of guy, no boost no bottle no bullshit. The Boss 302 is the Mustsng for me because of the this, while the Shelby is badass I prefer the way that N/A cars build power and the way the Boss builds it power I like a lot as well as the high rpm redline that it has. It has been one of my dream cars to own since I was 14 and at 24 this is probably the last time I will be able to get one as I plan on saving up for a house and my IRA account after this. You only get one shot on this rock so you might as well make the most of it and you regret the things you didn't do in life more than the things you did and who knows when my next chance to get one will be. So sometime in the next 2 or 3 months I will get my own black & red Boss.

Btw Nicole I find you far more fascinating than your panties, they just add to your mystique ;-)

Mine isn't a Grabber Blue... But I was thrilled to be able to get my 2012 LS.  Wasn't expecting to be able to in fact.  I had just bought a GT-500 convertible, hadn't been able to find any LSs available, and had pretty much talked myself into buying a used track car to be "practical" -- but on the day I dropped off the Shelby for it's first maintenance I walked through the dealer showroom, and there it was.  A Boss 302 LS just sitting there in all it's glory.  Clearly it was a sign -- the universe wanted me to have this car, and who am I to argue?  So that's why I have the one I have ;-)

I'm a new member, I just bought my Grabber Blue 2013 Boss in March.  All the colors are cool, but I liked SBY and Grabber Blue the best.  I couldn't find a SBY locally, but I found a grabber blue and I "grabbed" it.
