I want to replace my fog light delete covers with the wire grill inserts.  Only thing I can find is the  entire 302S grill that comes with the permanent wire mesh.  Does someone just make a slip in wire mesh to swap out the little plastic inserts so I don't have to spend 400 bucks.  Thanks

Hi
I have not seen anyone make or offer this as a specific part. But some Boss owners have made wire mesh screens and installed them. On the Boss 302S grill they drilled small holes and used stainless steel wire to tie the wire mesh in place.

BOSS 302S grille from Levittown Ford was $280.00 plus shipping.  I attempted to make wire mesh inserts and failed.  Looking forward to installing the 302S grille.

Was it Mardis awhile back was working on a fit-in? Somebody drilled a bunch of holes in the plastic ones I recall and didn't someone else make some from the 1/4" mesh wire? Would be nice if those were on the market.

I get a lot of complements on my homemade inserts when people see them.

Will cost ya about $4.

Didn't you do a write up on those back awhile B13? Those are really nice, would do that mod myself. The delete blanks looks like the person was too cheap to buy the optional driving lights so the assy. line put the blanks in.

I found another way to deal with those plugs. I actually bought another set of factory plugs since I didnt want to drill into the original ones from the factory. I drilled holes every other hole basically. The plastic was a little harder to remove and smooth than I was expecting. Im not sure if this site has changed I was unable to view the full version of the site on my phone and couldn't upload of progress so far. At least I know these modified plugs will fit like the factory plugs.

Someone else drilled the blanks too or had as a machinist do it. Said it took forever, never saw what they looked like. But since the blanks represent the actual grating wire not sure of the outcome on those, pictures not posted.

I just made the inserts from the gutter guard.  Looks pretty good.  Could have taken more time and care, but have a few scratches in plastic to touch up.  I still feel it looks much better than the empty holes sitting there.  Good mod in my opinion.

Thanks Dave for this and for the comments you posted in my photo gallery.

It's fun to find (or stumble upon) a simple do-it-yourself mod like this that looks good and doesn't break the bank.

B1815's 3D printed honeycomb version is another very nice option.

They are the same shape as the OEM plates, they just have the honeycomb opened up. They need to be the same size and shape to get the tabs to work.

Any idea if whoever made those would be willing to make another set?

Thanks!

Yeah, we are working on a way to make a bunch of sets. These are right off the 3D printer and they took 2 hours each to do. That would take forever, so the plan is to make a mold. That should speed things up.
