Mine isn't a L/S, what I meant was it was only the left side that took damage. The stretch of road was about 2 miles, and the speed limit there is 45 mph. The car is 3 years old, but I bought it with low miles and it was stored much of the first 2 1/2 years of its life. If you g on fordparts.com and get a price on teh stripes, which make the two part numbers I have about $800.

On another unrelated, but equally frustrating matter, the leading edge of the hood on the drivers side seems to have paint either bubbling or something underneath it bubbling. Has anyone heard of this issue and is there a recall or TBS that anyone is aware of? For a low mileage, top of the line car, it sure is becoming a high maintenance frustration. This is on top of doors that won't open on the first pull when unlocked and the usual shifter frustration.

Your hood is corroding (it's aluminum) ford wont warranty useless it starts getting holes in it.

As far as the doors not opening on the first pull, there is a TSB on it and they will fix it.

The hood corrosion issue comes down to ford using steel forms for making the aluminum hoods. Two different metals touching creates galvanic corrosion so if any steel particles stick to the aluminum during the manufacturing and painting process you will see this happen down the road. It's hit or miss on who gets it, I have no issues on mine.

Sorry for the delayed response, this thread slipped by my radar.

Just had same issue with chipping on my Driver Side Front Quarter Panel and Door back in February. I let it go for a couple of months to see how bad it would get and more and more starting chipping off.  Not sure if it was the cold weather or possibly something that was put down on the road for some of the storms we had back in February.  Auto body guy at the dealer tried to tell me it happens from snow but that's not the case as I hand wash and keep the car in the garage so bit of a mystery why i got the chipping.

Quote from the Dealer for $892 installed.  Each Piece was $371 and $150 for removal/install.

Sorry to hear it, but I'm very wary of the pricing you were given. The prices for the striping seems awfully low, and I'd make sure they were for Ford sourced stripes and not re-pops, which are not the reflective 3M material.

The pricing actually look decent if they're only replacing the damaged area. If replacing all of the stripes, you are correct that it's not right.

Its the dealers body shop and i am only buying the left quarter panel and door not the entire kit.  Ford Part Number DR3Z6320001CK is on the estimate for the Door Stripe.

I found the parts listed at this dealer for $256 for the Left Door and $313 for the Left Quarter Panel.

http://parts.lakelan...PE/JC10870.html.  I am not familiar with this dealer in Lakeland Florida but i would assume these are OEM and not re-pops and plan on giving them a call.

I am waiting to hear back from the Dealers Body Shop about the parts and when they can do it.

Man, that looks bad. Sorry to see that. I did have to replace a part of a stripe on my '12 and got the best price from Benny at Levittown and since it was a small portion on the rear passenger side behind the door, I did it myself. It was pretty easy. You might want to look into that option.

Striping on a '12 is a totally different animal than striping on a '13. The 12 uses a more conventional vinyl, wherreas the 13 is a reflective 3M material that not only can't be rolled or folded in any way, but shows any crease in the reflective conditions that make it so unique.

I guess I questioned the pricing as the labor seems low, since it took so long for us non-professioals to do the job. I did my fender (the front is the fender, not the quarter panel) door as well as the piece directly behind the door. The parts ended up running me over $700 and we put in a solid 5 hours on the labor side.

Seeing new posts I wanted to just make a reminder to NEVER EVER EVE EVER EVER EVER use a power washer on the stripes this goes for at home or at a car wash. You will catch an edge and off they will come!  Maybe not the first time, the second time, but eventually they will.

Just returned from a car show today and saw the 0 in 302 on my drivers side is starting to peel away as well as the 3 on my passenger side. Personally I find the stripes on my LS a real nuisance (can't wax them, wash them with anything beyond sprinkles of water, use a clear 3M bra, etc.) now they seem to just peel away due to being in the sun.

I am likely going to have them removed and replaced with painted facsimiles. Has anyone done this? I know the price will be high due to the number of panels effected but for long-term happiness this is likely my only way forward.

Anyone do or see something similar?

I waited for the Winter to end before getting my stripes replaced.  Got the Stripes and replaced for just under $1,000.  They had to replace the Stripes from the 302 front quarter all the way back behind the rear tire as there were chips/flaking all along the side.  I am not sure how this happened as i hand wash and havent put any wax on the stripes, had to be something from the road that got splashed up onto the side of the car and dried out the stripes.

While waiting for the Winter to finally end to fix the Stripes, i did manage to put on Black Tipped Rousch Axle Backs, no need for a radio as i can just listen to the exhaust.

Left side meaning driver side? This side sees more road debris than pass. side, in ME anyways. Note when I wash my DD as in Jan., Feb. everything is dirtier on that side. Brakes, wheels, side of car, trunk left side and more sand collected and washes out from underneath on that side. Always follow others way back also so as not to get sand and pebbles thrown up from tires of car or truck ahead, oh well. Mud flaps seem not in style these days or ever for some.
