Hi,

Can someone be kind enough to take note of the PCM tag identification part number (there are 2) and the catchword code (4) digits alpha-numerical and post it back here ? thanks.

Looking for this info since I on my way to retrofit a 2013 cluster in my Boss 2012, and I need to flash my pcm to the 2013 calibration to have the digital gauges to work. So I need this info to properly select the pcm calibration.

I got all the required parts to do so, last item is the pcm, which is on its way, I should get it by next week, at the latest. Parts required : cluster boss 2013, abs module from 2013 or 2014 mustang and I elected to replaced my pcm by a used 11-14 mustang gt one, since I wanted to keep my original pcm untouched. I have a vcm module to perform the pcm flash and pats relearns and other few details.

Robert

Robert:

Is this information your requesting from Members unique to their Boss PCM and their VIN? I know when my Ford Dealer Flashed my PCM for Track Key, the Ford IDS has my VIN.

In other words, would this information if shared cause any harm to our Members should they need their PCM serviced by their Ford Dealer?

I thought each PCM code label information was unique to that particular PCM.

Let us know,
Thanks

Hi 302 HP Pro,

I do not want the VIN, I do not need this information.

What I am looking for is the PCM label part number and catchword, which is not unique to every single Boss cars, but specific to Boss engine model instead.

I found few places were PCM calibration listing are published but I had no luck having such info linked to the specific Boss engine.

I do not need the VIN from another Boss car to change the calibration with the VCM2 module and IDS, the pcm part number is the other way around from which

the calibration can be downloaded from Ford website.

that's all. no trick of any sort here. Hope it answers your questions or worries. let me know if it still unclear.

Hi Robert:

Thank you so much for the quick reply to my question(s). I hope you understand my concern for our Forum Membership.

Unfortunately, these days we have to be ultra sensitive to these types of request.

I was not sure as PCM Tuning and PCM codes are not my area of expertise, but I had to ask.

Kind Regards,

The information the OP is looking for is on the up and up. The catchword code is also called the stratagy code and is not unique to one vehicle.

Hi,

No problem 302 HI Pro, I very well understand the concern, and be sure that there were no offense felt, of any kind, from my part.

Hope my English is not too weird to you, French being by native language.

As Yankee-eight just mentioned before, it is exact that the strategy code or catchword is not unique to a given car pcm, as well as the part number version of the said pcm.

Both of these info are engine/car manufacturing run. During production over time, there could  be change made to this strategy, then the code or part number might change,

from engine series to another one, or year to year. Boss 2012 engine are having difference pcm calibration for reason that I am not fully aware, but it is, what it is.

As I did explain in the original post, I am looking for a 2013 Boss strategy and pcm part number to flash my second pcm that I bought over ebay. I need to do that

to enable the functionality of the Boss 2013 cluster digital gauges but by the same time, keep a calibration that would fit my 2012 engine.

I don't believe that there were difference between both MY engines for the BOss, if it happens that someone over here would know something about any difference

between the MY, I would greatly appreciate that it could be shared.

Hoping it did clarify my intent with my original post.

thanks,

Robert

Hi,

Me again...Can anyone with a Boss 2013 could confirm me the following from their PCM sticker: DR3Z-12A650-ZD with catch word being either DZW2 or DZW3.

I am pretty sure about it, but a confirmation would be greatly appreciated !!

Thanks,

Robert

2012 Boss 302 and this is not on mine. Sorry I couldn't help, but let's hope some one with a 2013 can confirm. The 4 digit code on my 2012 is VKU1. The P/N: CR3A-12A650-ABB.

Good luck with your quest.

Hi 302 HI Pro,

Thanks for the feedback, you actually, have the same part number and catchword than me.

See, that's what I was talking about. Nothing fishy here, just looking for the right part number, which at the end,

should direct me to the right calibration for the engine.

Just hope that someone might take few minutes of their time to look at it, there is nothing to move or dismantle to access

the PCM part number, it is something that can be checked just by popping the hood and checking of the PCM side where the sticker

is located.

thanks again, have a good day ! :)

I'm sorry I can't help you out as I also have a 2012  :drop:

However this is a picture of my 12 to show 2013 owners the location of this information.

IMG_0700_zpshe0i9zlh.jpg

The VKU1 (strategy code) and PN: CR3A-12A650-ABB are the same on all 2012 models. All fastkurve needs is the above information that is on the 2013 models.

Thank you

Looking for a 2013 Boss Member to step up and help a fellow Member, your safe, we have vetted this request and its generic information.

Thank you in advance,
302 Hi Pro

PS: I posted my PCM Information to let everyone know this is safe. The OP has a 12 and needs the 13 information to match the right dual program capable PCM that supports the 13 track apps for his upgrade.

Thank you Brewmaster, it just confirm the part number that I found, besides yours is a DZW2 cathword, the one I found was DZW2, it is just a matter of being a previous calibration, DZW3 being the newer one.

Thanks again, I feel more confident now that the tune or calibration, should not mess anything.

Hi,

Been a long run since my quest debut for the 2013 Boss cluster retrofit, in my MY 2012, but it is now fully functioning, with all the bells and whistles !

The missing piece, track key, was not unavailable anymore at the point of time when I was trying to retrofit the cluster.

Since Ford Racing re-issued it lately, I bought it and went through final steps to complete the retro fit.

I kept all the original hardware untouched (cluster-PCM-ABS module) and using IDS, I proceeded with the changes

to be done to have all these new parts to work together.

Without help from other mustang fellows over the web, and members from this forum, I do not think I would have been able

to tackle this down.

Just wanted to say "Thanks" to everyone who gave me some of their time and details that I was looking for during my quest.

Have a good day, all ! :)

Robert

PS: I also retrofit the SYNC and Shaker 500 radio (along with Mustang GT door panels, for the subwoofers).

Honestly, IMHO,  I would say that the MY 2012 should have been such equipped, right from the start.

SYNC for the safety (cell phone Bluetooth) and shaker 500 to complete the joyful experiment of driving and

       listening to my favorites songs.
