Just picked up a 2012 Boss 302.Came with the red Trac Key.How do I know if the download has been done. When I put the red key in it says something about trac key something and track use only.Does that mean it has the download in it?I really can't tell any difference in the car from the silver key.

Hmm, others will pin point this but what comes up is something like "Track Key in Use" and you have to ack. it (may be what you said). After car warms up and all other criteria is met "Lopey Idle Engaged " will show on screen. May not be exact words but if both those functions are there, Trackey should be ready. Also you may have to do a computer relearn, have to let the car idle and not touch any controls. It would be outlined in your owner's manual.

The thing is I use the key all the time and don't pay attention anymore to the messages, just reset them. Now mines a '13 but believe that phase is the same but the '12's don't have the digital gauges, I may be mistaken, the '12 owner would know that best.

Of coarse when all else fails read directions. 02HP just posted on another forum the TK inst's and LS239 post here. I have a copy myself but it's more of a challenge to guess at it all. Sometimes I'm close, sometimes not so.

Have to reread myself; you have the TK and is recognized w/red key in ignition as I see it flst09. Yup, I'd do the neutral idle relearn on page 6.

Your TracKey, (Red Key), has been activated.

Drive the Boss and bring the coolant temp up to normal operating temp. Then, after another few minutes you will hear a Chime, (like when Key is first inserted into the ignition), look at your Driver Info Center and you will see "TracKey Idle Active".

Once you see this, you will notice a distinct difference in the engine idle. You have to rev the engine off idle, then return to idle condition before the Lopey idle kicks in.

Do the following, 1. Un-Cork the Boss Side Pipes, by removing the attenuator plates. 2. Fill the tank with 91 Octane gas, (I only use 93 - Sunoco Ultra).

Have fun with your 2012 Boss 302,

Oh yeah. There is no doubt when the Track Key activates... Idle, exhaust sound, engine brake and detonations when downshifting, a different experience all together.

Removing the side baffles and Flowmaster mufflers made it way more interesting, I must say.

After owning my 13' a little over 3 months now a few weeks back I tried out the track key. What a difference. Please tell me if this is normal. When I start the car I believe the dash reads Red Key enabled or active. I press the OK button on left side of steering wheel. At this time there's no significant change. It's not until the car seems to come up to operating temp that the dash comes on Red Key active or something like that. From then the sound and response is very noticeable. Is it normal that the car will run for at least 5-7 minutes before the track key activates?

Very normal. I’ll drive mine for a mile or so and when the temp gets to around 192 degrees it kicks in. If you’re sitting at an intersection or in your driveway at an idle when the engine gets up to temperature, just blip the gas and TK will kick in. You’ll never go back to the silver key again!

All of the functions kick in soon as you use the Red Key except the lopey idle which activates a couple minutes after engine reaches operating temp.

Yup. The Track Key Customer Instructions v2.0 even say that the « Lopey Idle » will kick in if the engine temperature has reached 170F since 130 seconds and engine is not idling.
