So i just picked up my boss a couple months ago and have been looking into how to get a track key for it, well after looking all over the place i find out that ford discontinued it. Well i came across the "Track Cal" for a 13-14 GT so i got in touch with ford racing to see if that would possibly work for my car, and of course they say no, but he did tell me to hang tight for a couple months because they are working on coming back out with the track key. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I'd like to get it all figured out, also im looking for a set of recaro seats if anyone has some!

Probably could sell the PCM with it installed and put in a different car. Could have fresh uncluttered module then (new keys too).... Win-win, starting bid at $1998 but may have to guarantee.

Ford will make a killing on TK return, just to have avail. even. They felt the K&N filter had to be inc. though, can it make a difference? Jury's still out......:(

yeah that would be worth a try, i just wonder if it would change anything else too? Hopefully it does return, but the more research im doing, and with my goals for the car i wont even be using the tune.

Shaun at AED TUNERS warned me to NOT USE THE T.K.WITHOUT A HIGHER OCTANE RaCE FUEL - OR SELF DESTRUCTION WOULD SURELY FOLLOW
I BELEIVE THE MAN.

WITH HIGH AMBIENT TEMPS, AND THE HIGHEST QUALITY PREMIUM PUMP GAS NEAR ME,..I could definitely feel pinging under severe loads.

This is how you kill an engine slowly.

But I really, really, REALLY, like to experience and share the wonderful shake, rattle, and roll, of the T.K.s lopey idle!

Reminds me why I'm still not a drummer for hire! YET

Yeah id love to see how it is! I'm not sure if 93 octane is enough, but luckily here in PA we have 93 everywhere, i know when i was living out in SoCal the highest was 91 and it was terrible quality!

I run 91 octane on the street and 100 at the track. Never any issues with either but you can smell the difference!

Sounds easy, but not that easy. If you had an SCT-X4 hand held Tuner with a Lund or AED Tune, you could save both Silver & Red key (TK), Tunes, then down load your Aftermarket Tune and then sell your X4.

The buyer might be able to marry the X4 to the new VIN, and save his/her Silver Key Tune and then download it to the new car. But then the seller would have a Locked PCM and could no longer load any updates or new tunes.

That is if the TK would even load to the new VIN. I suspect thenTK is locked to the original VIN and it would not be transferable to the new VIN. Lots of IF's, big IF's in my opinion of course. But what do I know?

Just some points to consider.

I have an AED Tune and Shawn does not like TK. But I don't believe that Ford Motor Company would sell an OEM TracKey that will hurt or kill your engine. One should always use 100 Octane Race Gas when on track, with ANY Tune, it would be silly not to IMO.

But in my opinion TK is the best Tune for the 2012/13 U-Code Boss engine when used with Race Gas during your Track Day.

I am fortunate that we have 93 Octane in my area, and feel for those out west who only have 91 Octane.

Which makes me wonder, Why is that? Why do they not allow 93 Octane to be sold?

Could be wrong but I always thought it (91 vs. 93 Octane) had something to do with the altitude out here in Colorado. I should look into it now that you've peaked my curiousity.

If I remember right the only thing higher octane does is to keep the fuel from igniting before the spark plug can fire. In other words the engine operates like a diesel, plugs not needed. So it's less volatile than say 90 octane, the pinging is the fuel detonating before it's supposed to on the compression cycle.

LoL that's me, more money than brains (did buy a Boss). Nice to look forward to a TK resurrection, makes you feel it's substantial still. Maybe Ford is streamlining so one program covers all coming up instead of the many tangents as is. A change entering with the 2018 model and backtracking to '12?

Where is this information coming from? The TK is only software. In all reality FP should still have it on file. The only problem is it was on an old OS system, but still to marry it to work wit a new OS only takes a matter of hours. I highly doubt they will change the parameters of the TK since that's what the population wants.

.

Where is this information coming from? The TK is only software. In all reality FP should still have it on file. The only problem is it was on an old OS system, but still to marry it to work wit a new OS only takes a matter of hours. I highly doubt they will change the parameters of the TK since that's what the population wants.

Confirmed by ford performance themselves. No clue about the jibber jabber you are speaking of in your post regarding trac key software.

Obviously you're not up on software and operating systems. If FP has it on file then all they have to do is re-release it. Is that too much jibber jabber for you "ehh"
