Those would be nice if steering is in the way, seat all the way forward with mild tilt to column. Competitor's had those for a few years already. Attached File  image.png   735.14KB   1 downloads

My thinking with this project is to bring more of a racing feel to the interior, keep the Alcantara wrapping, and increase entry/exit leg room. Being 6'9 every bit helps...

Still seems nonsensical to not have a tilt w telescopic wheel from factory.

Will post more, when I have more pics and info...

You might as well go with a quick release mechanism as well.

Unfortunately this was not an option to keep everything else OEM.  All that is being done is taking the lower 'O' shaped portion of the stock wheel and flattening it off (which requires modification to the lower spoke and plastic garnish).  All of the buttons, airbag, and adjustments will remain OEM.

I like it!  I have my seat adjusted perfectly for driving and seeing the gauges, but getting in the car, my leg always brushes the bottom of the wheel.  Not a big deal, but I also love the look of a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

I would buy one as well, once they go on sale. Definitely like the performance look of a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and it is really helpful for getting in and out of the car. I've always found it odd that my Golf GTI has one, but my Boss 302 does not.

If you're re-wrapping the alcantara, thought about doing the 12 o'clock racing stripe too?

That is a thought I had originally, but I wanted the overall appearance to remain as OEM as possible.  That said, once the prototyping is completed you may be able to add one similar to the GT350 is that is your desire.

I assume this is what you were referring to, yes?  LINK

VERY NICE.

How is the cost for modifying compared to purchasing ?

Keeping the airbag for street use is imperative.(to me)

Unless full roll cage, harness, Hans device, and helmet in use

I am not personally modifying this wheel, I have commissioned an outside company to complete a prototype on my behalf. Upon completion, I will install the wheel and provide a complete write-up w pictures of my experience with the wheel and the company.
