I've decided to install a air oil seperator. The JLT Can seems popular. I saw several on 12-13 Bosses at a recent car show. Seems easy to install and drain. Don't quite like the looks though. I like a stock/factory look and the ford performance version looks great but it seems like a pain to drain. Does anyone have any info regarding the ford performance air oil seperator relative to filtering ability and ease of draining ? Thanks

I have the JLT also. Like the looks and OEM Ford hoses are used (or were). Do not install on driver side as that is fresh air intake to engine PVC system, but they're made still. Too easy to install, quality and work great. The Ford version is OK I guess but can't see how it looks original as car doesn't come with any for starters. Makes me think of the Ford Performance hood struts (nice) vs the Redline struts opinions (Redlines very streamlined)?

If it's the location of the passenger side JLT can that bothers you, get creative and move it. Nothing a little hose and a fitting or two can't fix. I know the FRPP separator may seem like it would fit and keep an OEM look but Rich is right, it's still out there. I went with the Peterson breather kit and it's mounted just right of the battery, on a home made bracket that attaches with a cowl rivet. For as long as I've had it, it's never needed to be drained and just collects a mist of oil in it. I like the location because it out of the way. But as far as ease of installation goes, the JLT and FRPP will take just a few minutes.

I have the JLT separators, and I think they look fantastic. I got the black ones, and they don't seem to stick out too much as non-factory. I have both sides installed, but the driver's side never collects anything. The passenger side collects a decent amount after track days.

Hello Hotwheels,

I've got the JLT separator too.  Personally I think that the black one looks great.  Rather stock IMO.  I'd buy it again, for sure.

What an engine compartment TS (thumbs up). Know the race version Bosses are the same as yours, my only question is where the PCV is open to atmosphere (thought they were) only with that setup, is this doing the engine a disservice by not extracting impurities from the engine crankcase and reburning?

Probably makes no difference with very frequent changes, I'm OK with the JVC (JLT, keep calling them wrong) as it's compact, no nonsense and always the question "what's that?".

The Peterson in not a closed system and vents in the engine bay. Isn't that messy, you ask. Not at all. I see no signs of oils anywhere. Doesn't it smell you're wondering. Can't smell anything over the racing fuel! The only tyme I can smell any oil is after tracking the car hard all day but I check my oil quite often and consumption is not unusual, in fact it's quite normal. I think I actually would lose more oil with the JLT which I'd be down about a quarter a quart a month.

I installed the same system as found on Sweet Lorraine, (TS’s KN 12 Boss). Rich B. Is right when he stated let the engine return those impurities, as the engine will. Unfortunately if left unchecked oil vapor flashes on the face of the intake valve and creates carbon build up deposits.

An air/oil separator of some sort is on my top 3 mod list.
